Hi All,

new to this forum and ProgeCAD, but an old hat at AutoCAD.

Some background info in point form:

- We have one user who is on ProgeCAD 2014
- We have one user on AutoCAD 2015 (Me)
- Our title block was created in AutoCAD
- The title block uses fields from the files' drawing custom properties to fill the fields.

Each time the ProgeCAD user opens, modifies the title block (and any other work required) and saves the file, any subsequent use in AutoCAD come with the following issues:

- Title block fields are no longer linked
- Title block is not editable
- Custom drawing properties that are not populated are deleted from the file
- AutoCAD crashes upon closing of file.

The current remedy I am using for this is to delete the title block, purge the drawing and reinstate the title block. This still has the crash when closing, but subsequent uses of the same file in AutoCAD do not.

This is taking a considerable amount of time to repair on each drawing, after each time it is used in ProgeCAD. To add to the list above, the custom drawing property fields do not work as they do in AutoCAD, in ProgeCAD.

Has anyone had similar issues or a fix for these issues?

Short answer is to move both users to the same platform, of course.

Dear tqjas,

While further investigating with the Development Team the unexpected behaviour regarding AutoCAD 2015 use of data field entities which you have highlighted, we were able to focus its origin:

Currently, when you save the drawing in progeCAD, its format is automatically first converted to AutoCAD 2010 DWG. We verified that the field data is currently lost in this step.

As a temporary work-around to prevent any data loss, you have to always save the drawing to 2010 format from AutoCAD first before opening in progeCAD (from AutoCAD initially "Save As" 2010 DWG). This way, you'll avoid this conversion in progeCAD. When the drawing is then saved all fields (and the contained data) should still be maintained. Unfortunately, you may still experience a one-time crash in AutoCAD 2015 when closing the drawing after opening it again and saving it after progeCAD 2016.

This issue with the data fields in AutoCAD 2015 will probably be addressed in the next major release of progeCAD, because the 2010 back-conversion process is no longer used then.

Thanks Caddit for your response.

I don't have a version in front of me but can the progeCAD version be saved in a newer version to be able to be compatible, or is this excluded in the fact that you mention a fix will be sorted in the next major release?
2014 version savings as 2010 seems a little back dated?

Thanks

HI tqjas,

Note that data field support is a new feature in progeCAD. It seems that using data field entities in the latest version of AutoCAD is uniquely affected by this.

Yes it will be completely addressed in the next major release.

Thank you for your report.
