Hi folks,

I have just migrated to an Intellicad based CAD package from Microsoft Visio which did everything in layout space. This is quite different! I understand how a real CAD does things i.e. drawing at 1:1 in model space and then scaling in layout space but I am struggling to put that theory into practice. My main issue is getting drawings to display correctly on a layout...how and where to scale them etc. I realise this is a probably a very simple thing to do but I just can't get there. Can anyone help with a very dumbed down example?

All help gratefully received!

Sean

Welcome SeansDesign,

progeCAD (and AutoCAD) use views (called viewports) in paperspace as "windows" into the modelspace. These rectangular viewports are created using the MVIEW command. Each viewport created using mview can be customized by selecting its border and then changing the viewport properties (go ahead, left-button click on a viewport border frame and look at the progeCAD "properties palette" :)

Also, if you want to edit / zoom manually / etc inside a certain viewport you just double click inside that viewport. Then - when finished with whatever editing for that mview, double click back outside of the viewport (back into the general paperspace area not part of an mview, i.e. somewhere in what some call the "Master viewport").

There are some applied discussions for aspects of using paperspace HERE:
