I receive files from Surveyors containing a TIN representing the existing surface. Often I want to run simple batters (around a building or of a footpath for example) to determine the extent and impact during option assessment without going to the detailed designers.

Is it possible to:
1. turn the TIN into a surface, and
2. then test a batter profile (say extrude a shape along a path) to create a finished surface to find the intersection?
3. Can you then trim the new surface back to existing survey surface?

Thanks

@obe1

1. The TIN needs to be created with ProgeEARTH
OR
You can have them export their TIN to a LandXML file and ProgeEARTH will import it.

2. You can make a finished TIN and surface by using 3d lines and 3d polylines.

3. ProgeEARTH does not project to a surface, you will need to approximate this in your finished surface.

Thanks,
Norm

Will it turn it to surface? Or something else should be done?

When you import a surface from a LandXML file, ProgeEARTH will create the surface. All you need to do is to open the surface and have progeEARTH draw the contours (if desired). You can use the surface for volumes without drawing contours.
