I opened an attachment yesterday to see that the dwg was not positioned to suit the OS grid we are working on. When the client was questioned, they said it was and the error was my side. I opened the dwg in Autocad2008 and also Trueview and these both displayed the drawing with the correct UCS.

Any ideas as to why progecad didn't display it correctly? (it's the first time it's happened when opening an attachement)

Hi SClapham,

It would be hard to say exactly, given the limited information. It would probably be safe to say that the UCS changed because someone changed it. progeCAD certainly doesn't create UCS randomly on it's own.

Since progeCAD 2016 we have supported dynamic UCS similar to AutoCAD:

If the drawing file contains solids, a first guess would be that someone selected a 2D drawing face but didnt set UCS back to WCS when saving. This is standard best practice to check when working in 3D, along with audit-purge and any other housekeeping functions. There is some discussion on automating such tasks in AutoLISP here:
