I find that text displays with rough edges in Progecad 2010. It prints OK.
Any ideas as to how to cure this annoying problem?

Are you using an SHX font file in your text style when your CAD text appears to have "rough edges" as you say? If so, its like this...

progeCAD supports both Adobe True Type font files and legacy AutoCAD SHX fonts. SHX (AutoCAD compiled SHAPE file) developed for use by old pen plotters which printed in strokes, usually using an HPGL-type language. This is why they appear somewhat jagged by default on-screen.

On the other hand, Windows TTF (true-type) fonts are smoother, WYSIWYG on-screen and on-paper. But heavy use of TTF scalable fonts can degrade graphics pan/zoom performance when compared to same drawing using only SHX (which are defined using native CAD entities) or at times produce other undesirable side effects.

There are pros and cons to each type of CAD fonts, and this can be a topic of debate in the circles of Autodesk:
