We are getting the below mentioned error while printing s drawing from progecad 2008/09 to a HP Plotter 500. We are using a Plotter connected to a PC on the network by sharing the same on the network. We can print smoothly from Autocad but cannot take printout from progecad. The PC to which the plotter is connect is having Autocad installed.

"error writing data to layout"

After this message, progecad closes automatically

Is there a way to overcome this and print drawings from Progecad as are done from autocad on HP Plotter 500

The developers would now like to know if you recently changed the printer properties.

They already saw this error message before and the reason is that the user changes the printer properties from the print window. If you have made any changes could you please describe them?

No we have not changed the printer properties. We are using the same settings to print from Autocad, but we are not able to print from ProgeCad 2008/09

Hi HarryS1,

While the developers look deeper into the problem, there are a few settings you can experiment with.

First, be sure to take notes or screen shots of ANY settings you change here, in case you should want to restore the original settings again afterward.

1) Some HP Designjet 500 drivers support "print as image" or "print as bitmap". Does your driver support this advanced setting (in control panel). Some report resolving the problem with this setting.

2) Previous problems with the HP Designjet 500 were usually driver related and unique to the DesignJet 500. You could try using another print processor, or try printing "direct" instead of "using the printing queue"

Remember to note your original settings in case your changes don't work or cause problems with your AutoCAD plotting.

I understand you mean that you have tried both "spooling" and "direct printing", correct?

Have you tried "print as image" (if available with your driver) or any of the other advanced "Print Processor" options?

Remember to note your original settings in case your changes don't help, or start causing problems with your AutoCAD plotting.
