Problem 1>
when I import a file I use for part listing (BOM type), the attributes while list correctly when first importing them, behave strangely when I edit them (ate or ddatte).
Some of the attribute prompts are repeated. As an example the list of prompts should read:
Item No.
Description,
Guantity Reqd.
Material,
Comments.
This is replaced with:
Item No.
Description, *
Quantity Reqd. *
Quantity Reqd. *
Description. * (*items repeated)

This is repeated for each item in the list.

Problem 2.
I noticed another strange hapening with these blocks:- I use several drawings in the one file, each with its own border & title block.

When I move one of the drawings that include copied of the part list block, the second copy of the block appears to move with it.

The second copy does not actually move, the second image dissapears whrn you finish the move command.

It's probably no real problem but it is a bit disconcerting, thats all.

It is a figure of speech. By creeping we refer to the gradual re-appearance of certain behaviour, often caused by different factors but resulting in a similar effect. For your information also, software does vary - all the time. It's called development. A seemingly minor improvement in one section of code can have side effects also in other functions, which is why we also rigorously test each release. But it looks like some configurations are still having this problem.

We should have a new fix for this released soon.

Gee - open print preview, then click on print settings. select device page and assign ProgeSOFT PDF Wizard as the printer. Then select page size and orientation etc. Via properties you can select the dpi resolution - I use 1200.

Print preview again and it should show aas described by ythe setting you've just made.

Now it print - it will open a window to save as .pdf, save , done. It will automatically open up and show you the result.

I didn't know software crept anywhere. It also doesn't vary so there shouldn't be any creeping back to anything.

I found I was getting long slow saves when I'd assigned to a different pdf file creator, fixed when I went back to the ProgeCAD pdf creator.

Good research. It's almost accurate, too

progeCAD 2009 Professional offers users the option to print shaded and hidden 3D views from layout (paperspace). Paperspace layout viewports (mview) offer several view specific features, including scaling and paper size visualization - and a choice of 3D object visualization modes. Here is an example:

First we create a sample ACIS 3D cylinder (_cylinder cmd) with a quick 5 degree draft angle to the part's side (_soledit -> _taper ; also see "Solids Editing" toolbar) as so:

Switch to one of the Layout tabs along the bottom of the work space and click the view's BORDER line itself (solid outline surrounding the view). The properties pallet will display attributes of the view itself which you can change. Look for the "Visualization Type" property and change to desired 3D visualization for that paper view. Here we switch to "Hidden Line":

Printing works fine using paperspace (layout) viewports for solid display modes, as this print preview for our demo shows in "Flat shaded with wireframe" mode selected:

Please note that not ALL the modes listed are supported yet - but the product is improving. In all fairness to you, the help is also slightly behind the latest progeCAD features in version 2009 right now. We are in the process of releasing an updated version for 2009 help system later this year. But I hope this info can maybe save you a day then next time...

I have just purchased ProgeCAD and upgraded to the latest version. Generally I love the program. It is easy to get used to and its 3D drawing interface is easier to use than Autocad.

My main problem is after viewing the 3D drawings with the hide command, the screen image is beautiful BUT when I try to print it the hidden lines all show their ugly faces.

I have been using Autocad LT 98 and this can handle this OK this wont interpret all the features properly.

I have read that ProgeCAD cannot hide lines when printing.
Is this true and if so will the feature be added in the future?

I can convert the parts and use Alibre but this uses an excessive loss of time. I did this on a job and lost over a day.

- progeCAD 2008 Professional 8.0.22.18 on Windows Vista Home Basic SP1,
- progeCAD 2008 Professional 8.0.22.18 on Windows Xp Professional SP3.

On both systems problem is the same.

Wir haben die Antwort von der Entwicklung:

"we have done some test on the drawing attached, but the horizontal slice it'impossible.
Autocad work like progeCAD and is not able to slice in horizontal mode.
Autocad show an error message.
In more cases the slice it's impossible for the shape of the 3dsolids."

Das heißt, eigendlich hat das Problem weniger mit progeCAD selbst zu tun, sondern mit dem Geometrie-Bibliotek von ACIS (auch von AutoCAD genutzt, wie oben erwähnt).

Eigendlich passiert so was schon immer wieder bei allen mathematischen Algorithmen, sogar mit CATIA.

Ich schlage es vor, anstatt schneiden - probieren Sie bitte mit Solid Subtract eine Halbe erst wegzunehmen (zwei mal wenn Sie beiden Tiele brauchen). Sie koennen auch mit Solid "check" und "clean" Optionen mal versuchen (unter "_solidedit" Befehl). Manchmal geht es auch nach einem ACIS .sat exportieren -und wieder einportieren.

After save, close and open file

After open file, dimmension lines just fly away. How to keep dimension line on right place (like on picture before save)?

- yes I suppose I was venting as I've been up since 4am finishing off a drawing. But hey - I did say it was better than autoCAD which is probably the most confusing program I've ever tried to learn in my 20 years of using computers.

But thankyou- you directed me to the pdf version of help that I was unaware of, so I'll get straight into it.

Venting a little are we?

Frankly I am not sure what was unclear in my explaination. progeCAD was created to serve very complex design needs in an affordable way, i.e. because you do not use scripting doesn't mean others don't.

A major update to the progeCAD help system is planned later this year (we have already delivered substantial updates to the PDF manual and two more free eBooks for progeCAD users this year)

Did you actually have a specific question over a certain page of the help file in mind?

I wish the same info but the reply above is as clear as mud.

I've now realised that this program has a history that goes back to command script computer operation from the dark ages which I've never used. The help system is so chocked up with revisions it's now a mess and is absolutely no help all.

The only way I can operate the program is through trial and error.
still it's more user friendly than autoCAD.
